2013 - PVC coated metal cage, cardboard, ceramic
The word PEACE is painted black so as to blend into the black cage. If you face it directly, you can hardly see it. The letters, like peace itself, appear, bleak, hard to decipher and difficult to grasp. The sides of the letters are painted a gorgeous radiant, turquoise, a color that I see as symbolising all that is beauty, harmony, serenity, and culture in Iran. However, that's only visible if the viewer changes their traditional perspective, if they move aside and around the installation to try and seek more options, discover more views, more possibilities. As for the small fragile turquoise bird that represents hope, peace and freedom for us all, I left the cage door ajar for it!
